Don’t Do This If You Have Too Much Business

As you may have observed I have been describing real life situations which I have experienced in my Blogs followed by an explanation of the business application.

At the bottom of each Blog there is an area for you to comment.  Enter your name, e-mail address and web site address along with your comment.

Now here comes the big question. Why should you comment?

The Blog sphere is an internet environment that allows for an exchange of information on a particular posted topic. You may agree or disagree with the Blog. The idea is to create a conversation. Whether you agree or disagree it is always important to do it professionally.

How do you benefit? By responding to my Blogs, people will read your responses and by doing so you will be putting your self in the public view. People could potentially contact you for your services or products. They may refer you to another person, you could be seen as an expert based on how you comment, and you could make a new friend or business acquaintance or even get business. Look at this as another opportunity to be in the public eye.

YOU HAVE EVERTHING TO GAIN AND NOTHING TO LOSE AND IT IS FUN. GIVE IT A TRY NOW.

Here is another tip. Create your blog in a word document and do a spell check. After the spell check, cut your response and paste it in the comments section. Check the box at the bottom that says, "Check here to get an e-mail when someone replies." When someone makes a contribution to the conversation you will be notified.

COMMENTS

I prefer to get my blog content in RSS form rather than email. Who needs more email. I check my RSS blog information every few days and can view it when I WANT rather than when it is sent to me.

Did you two read Al's post? It's about leaving comments, not about subscribing by email or RSS.

Although I think it's kind of silly, many people prefer to subscribe to blogs by email. (They probably don't realize the efficiency that comes with reading through an RSS reader.)

As a point of reference, though, HubSpot's interent marketing blog has about 6k subscribers and 1500+ are subscribed by email. That's a big % and that's an audience that's interested in internet marketing. You'd think that it'd be much lower.

Thanks Dan and Rick for your comments.

I agree that RSS is a better way for people to subscribe to blogs. I use RSS to read blogs and encourage others to do the same.

It's much more efficient. I also am a realist and know that very few people do use RSS to read blogs, so I like that my blog

software allows people to sign up and receive my posts. I also send out my newsletter with links to my new blog articles to people

who I have met along the way. I use Constant Contact so they can opt out anytime, of course. But, I find that doing that

increases the likelihood that my blog will help me start conversations with people which may lead to me helping them with their sales challenges.

However, the point of my article was to encourage people to leave comments on blogs. Not just mine.

I tried to point out the benefit of leaving comments on blogs as it helps to start relationships, as well

gives commenters an opportunity to leave a link to their site and impress my readers with their thoughts.
