I once obtained a fortune cookie that read, "The purpose of life is to have a life of purpose".

To that, I want to add, "Without a commitment to change there is no growth."

In the book  Deep Change, by Robert E. Quinn the author talks about the Heroic Journey.

"The hero's journey is a story of individual transformation, a change in identity.  In embarking on the journey, we must leave the world of certainty.  We must courageously journey to a strange place where there are a lot of risks and much at stake, a place where there are new problems that require us to think in new ways."

I read this book many years ago and continue to refer back to it. It has been a tremendous source of direction and inspiration. This is a must read.

Top Performers do take risks, they move out of the known and into the unknown.  Top Performers know that with every risk they take there is an opportunity. I have lived and persevere in living by the credo, "Grow or Die".
